Kamie Currie, President (2021)
Government of Canada, Prairies Can, Senior Business Officer
Kamie has a long history of involvement with community groups in leadership roles, including the Fairview Agricultural Society, Alumni Foundation, Grande Prairie Regional College, Fairview Rotary Club and Fairview Fine Arts Centre. She completed the Fairview Pollinator Garden design, development, and installation for the community in July 2021. Kamie was part of the Fairview Farmers’ Market establishment in 2018 and continues to chair the Farmers’ Market committee.
Kamie says, “I am involved with this organization because I believe in the importance of community. Ignite serves as a hub for fostering positive relationships and a sense of belonging for young people. My involvement is driven by my desire to contribute to society by developing programs and activities that help these individuals become contributing members.”
Kamie was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for volunteer service in 2022.
Myah Adams, Vice-President (2021)

Myah has a long history with the organization as her parent ran the Link (the former name of Ignite) for a number of years. She has been involved with numerous theatre groups here and in Ontario. She brings unique and innovative ideas for fundraising and programming to the Board.
Mike Weenink, Director (2022)

Mike has been with the Board for 2.5 years.

Tony Shmyruk, Director (2021)
Northwestern Polytechnic, Acting Dean, Fairview. Campus
A past president of Ignite, Tony joins us an important connection to the world of trades. Tony is a strong believer in the benefits of Ignite to the individual participants and the community.
Jeremy McCracken, Director (2018)
Retired
Jeremy has been a member of the Ignite board since 2017 and is a frequent facilitator of a number of programs. He had attended the Link (former name of Ignite) several times while he was a high school student. He strongly believes in the mission of the Ignite and that youth centres in small rural towns can save lives.
Terry Cameron, Director (2021)
Retired
Terry joined our board in 2021 and has facilitated the drum program. He believes that music can be an important way for youth to express themselves, have fun and make friends - in addition to making music!
April Larsback, Director (2022)
H&R Block, Tax Preparer
April joined the Ignite board in 2022 and her children have attended Ignite programs. April has been active in many organizations, including organized sports.
Joanne Peloso, Director (2024)
New to the Fairview Community, Joanne has 25 years experience working with all ages of youth and adults with developmental disabilities. She volunteered with Guelph Drop In Centre and has recently become ordained as a Metaphysical Minister and Life Celebrant.
Joanne says, “I see the need for programs such as Ignite Youth which support young people in the community who may be at a disadvantage. Building relationships in a safe, positive environment can have an amazing impact for these youth and teach them lifelong skills that they may not receive elsewhere.”
Lisa Hiebert, Director (2024)
Canadian Natural, Maintenance/Fleet Administrator
Lisa has returned to the Board after some years away. She had been a vital part of the revitalization of Ignite in 2013.

Kaitlin Maguire, Director (2024)
Recovery Alberta, Addiction Counsellor
Kaitlin has served on many many boards in the past including Ignite, FAWCAA and the Fairview & Area Drug Coalition. Currently on the Fairview and District Playschool Board. She is also a former Restorative Justice Volunteer Facilitator.
Kaitlin has been working in the Human Services Field since 2008. Former Youth Centre Coordinator at a program in Irricana, AB. She facilitated many programs and workshops throughout her career. Experience with fundraising and grant writing for non-profit agencies.
Kaitlin says, “I am passionate about seeing youth thrive with healthy relationships with themselves, the people around them, and their community.”

Lily has been a Youth Director for three years. She has volunteered with Ignite for many years as well as the Bear Creek Folk Fest.
